2009 is the first year of the 987.2 Boxster, and is widely regarded as the sweet spot of years to buy.

The new 2.9 liter engine, with its bullet proof architecture, is widely regarded in the Porsche community as one of the most reliable Porsche engines ever built. It eliminated the IMS bearing issue of earlier models. This model also completely eliminates bore scoring issues, which is still possible in the S model of the same year, but still puts out 255 horse power, which is more than that of S models of earlier years. In the same year came the ultra-quick shifting 7 speed PDK transmission, replacing the 5 speed tiptronic.
